Bonaire Town Homes - Bonaire, Netherlands, Antilles - May 2016

Bonaire, an island in the Dutch Caribbean which lies off Venezuela's northern coast, is well-known for its world class diving.  Its reef-lined coast is protected by the Bonaire National Marine Park and offers diving opportunities 365 days a year.  There are 63 official dive sites; 54 of which are shore dives.  Scuba Diving Magazine's Annual Readers' Choice Awards has recognized Bonaire as the number one Shore Diving Destination in the Caribbean/Atlantic.

There is much to be said about the wonders of diving Bonaire; but in this Trip Report, I would like to focus on a delightful lodging option for those who wish an experience that is different from the large resort venues.   Introducing Bonaire Town Homes, owned and operated by Bennie and Esther.  This lodging gem is located in a quiet, residential area near downtown Kralendijk, the beach, and several dive shops.

DONKEYS

Each of the one- and two-bedroom units offers exotic plants that attract birds, butterflies, and iguanas.  An occasional donkey strolls past and wanders into the woods.   Divers can wash and hang wet gear in the spacious, shady patios.  A hammock is available for those quiet moments.  The kitchen/dining area is fully equipped, right up to the cooler for your outings.  The living room offers ample seating, remote cable television, and a ceiling fan.  The kitchen/living room area is not air conditioned, but windows and doors have screens to allow tropical breezes to pass through.

Each bedroom has an air conditioner unit that can be controlled to meet your personal temperature needs.  The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage space, and the orthopedic twin beds offer a comfortable night's sleep.    Electricity is 127v/220v50cycles.

Benny and Esther are gracious hosts who pride themselves on personal service.  They offer a safe for your valuables, will help you arrange vehicle rental, will make diving recommendations, if you'd like, and are available to be of help with any issues or questions that you have.

All of this for US $65/night for a single-bedroom unit (1-2 people); US $90 for a two-bedroom unit 3-4 people     Care to investigate this lovely get-away spot?  Contact Benny or Esther at info@BonaireTownHomes.com.
